The MC112CS is a media converter designed to convert 100BASE-FX fiber optic cable to 100Base-TX copper cable or vice versa. Adopting WDM technology, the MC112CS uses only one fiber cable to transmit and receive data, which will save half of the cabling cost for you. Designed under IEEE 802.3u 10/100Base-TX and 100Base-FX standards, the MC112CS is designed for use with single-mode fiber cable using SC Type connector.
The MC112CS supports longwave laser (LX) with full wire-speed transmission rate. It operates at 1310nm for data transfer and 1550nm for data reception. Thus, the device at the other end cooperates with the MC112CS operating at 1550nm for data transfer and 1310nm for data reception. Another media converter MC111CS from TP-LINK is just one example of cooperation with the MC112CS.
Other features of this module include the ability to be used as a standalone device (no chassis required), Auto MDI/MDI-X for the TX port, auto negotiation of duplex mode on the TX port, and front panel status LEDs. The MC112CS will transmit over single-mode fiber at distances of up to 20 km.
